Weapons

Single-seat Jaguars have two internal Aden 30mm (or DEFA 553) 30mm cannon with 150 rounds each. The RAF two-seater only had one cannon. The French Jaguar-E had two DEFA cannons with 130 rounds per gun. Up to 4536kg of weapons can be carried on five hardpoints.

The Jaguar A was configured to carry the AN-52 nuclear bomb. Other weaponry included the AS.30L air-to-surface missile, AS.37 MARTEL anti-radar missile, general-purpose bombs up to 750kg, retarded bombs, 400 and 1000kg laser-guided bombs, rocket pods, grenade launchers, anti-runway and anti-armour bomblets, the Durandal runway-denial rocket-powered bombs, and Matra Magic AAMs.

Typical war loads for the A model were eight 750kg, eleven 450kg or fifteen 250kg bombs for close air support; two Magic AAMs for low- or medium-level air superiority; one MARTEL with two tanks for low-altitude anti-radar penetration; three external 1200 liter (264 gal) tanks for ferrying.

Typical loads for the Jaguar GR.3A were four 1000lb (454kg) free-fall retarded bombs or BL755 cluster bombs, two 1200lb (550kg) Paveway II laser-guided bombs, two CBU-87 cluster bombs or two LAU-5003B/A CRV-7 rocket launchers. The latter two weapons were added during the 1991 Gulf war. Two Sidewinders could be carried on overwing rails.

The Jaguar GR.1 was cleared to carry the WE177 free-fall nuclear weapon, but this capability was lost when the WE177 was withdrawn in the 1990s.
